The sequence we usually plan around
Pandhal kaal nattu vizha
The ceremonial planting of the pandal post that formally begins the wedding. Small, family-only, and often the first properly emotional moment of the whole event — frequently skipped by photographers who arrive on the muhurtham morning.
Nichayathartham and the thamboolam

Maalai maatral and oonjal
Garland exchange, usually with cousins lifting the couple, followed by the oonjal with the women circling and the lamps. Movement and warm light, and one of the strongest photographic sequences in any Tamil wedding.
Muhurtham and thaali kattu
The core, with the getti melam at full volume. Ninety seconds, unrepeatable. One photographer locked on the couple, one on the mother and the family — because the family reaction is the photograph you will actually want.
