Newborn & Maternity Photography in Chennai

Maternity sessions are best between 28 and 34 weeks. Earlier, the bump does not read clearly in photographs; later, comfort becomes the limit, especially outdoors in Chennai heat. We schedule most maternity work before 9 am, when the light is softer and the morning still cool — along ECR, at Mahabalipuram or in the Theosophical Society grounds, or in the studio when the weather says otherwise.

Valaikappu and seemantham are events rather than portrait sessions — bangles, elders, the aarti and a large gathering of women. They photograph like a small wedding function, and we cover them the same way: one photographer moving continuously rather than directing groups, plus set-piece coverage of the bangle ceremony itself.

Newborn sessions have the shortest window of all. Between 5 and 14 days old, babies still curl naturally and sleep deeply enough for posed work. Book during pregnancy with a rough due date and confirm after the birth — a newborn session cannot be scheduled to a fixed day. Sessions take two to three hours, with feeding and settling breaks, and are never rushed.

We also photograph namakaranam, karnavedha and first birthdays: we cover the ritual properly and then work the room, because the photographs families keep are usually grandparents holding the child rather than the decor.
