How Long Should Wedding Photos Take to Deliver? (Chennai, 2026)

By Pugaippadam Photography · October 22, 2026 · Chennai, Tamil Nadu

The short answer

  • Teaser reel: 2 to 7 days is reasonable. Ours is usually inside 72 hours.
  • Full edited gallery: 4 to 8 weeks is normal practice in Tamil Nadu. Peak season often stretches it to 4–6 months.
  • Cinematic film: usually the slowest item. It should still have a date in writing.
  • Printed album: 2 to 4 weeks after you approve the layout, so most of the wait is your selection, not printing.
  • What we commit to: full gallery and film within 30 days of your last function, written into the agreement.

Why delivery is the most common complaint

Read wedding-photographer reviews in any directory and a pattern appears quickly. The complaints are rarely about the photographs themselves. They are about waiting: albums that arrive a year late, edited galleries that never arrive, and studios that stop answering once the balance is paid.

The cause is almost always the same. A studio books more weddings than its editing team can process in season. The shooting days are fixed, so the backlog lands on the edit — and between November and February a single studio can be shooting most days of the week. Every wedding after the third or fourth in a busy month joins a queue.

None of that is visible when you book, which is why the delivery date has to be agreed in writing before you pay the advance.

What a realistic timeline looks like

For a typical two- or three-function Tamil wedding, this is a sensible sequence:

  1. Within a week: a short teaser reel or a set of preview photographs, so the family has something to share.
  2. Two to four weeks: the full edited gallery — for a multi-function wedding that is usually 600 to 1,000 carefully culled photographs, not 3,000 raw frames.
  3. Four to six weeks: the cinematic highlight film (five to eight minutes) and any longer feature cut.
  4. After you choose: the album layout, one or two rounds of changes, then printing.

Single-function weddings are faster. Our Essential tier, which covers one function, is delivered within 21 days.

What the delivery clause should actually say

"We usually deliver in a month" is a hope, not a commitment. A useful clause has four parts:

  • A deadline counted from a fixed point — the date of your last function, not "after we receive full payment" or "after selection".
  • What is included in that deadline — gallery, film, or both. Albums depend on your selection, so they are usually dated separately.
  • How many revision rounds are included. We include two. Ask what a third costs before you sign, because disagreements usually happen after delivery.
  • What happens if the date is missed. Even a simple written answer tells you how seriously the studio takes it.

Five questions to ask before you pay the advance

  1. "What is your written delivery deadline for the gallery and for the film?" Get two dates, not one.
  2. "How many weddings are you shooting in my month?" A confident studio will answer this.
  3. "Who edits — your own team or outsourced editors?" Outsourced editing is not wrong, but it adds a queue you do not control.
  4. "How many copies of my files do you keep, and for how long?" Two independent copies is the minimum that protects you.
  5. "How do I download everything, and how long does the online gallery stay up?" Download as soon as it arrives, and keep a copy somewhere other than one phone.

How we handle it

Our crew is on our own payroll and the equipment is owned rather than hired, so we know our capacity before we accept a date. The full gallery and cinematic film are delivered within 30 days of your last function, and that is written into the agreement as a clause rather than a promise. A teaser reel usually reaches you within 72 hours, and two revision rounds are included.

If you are comparing studios, the cost guide explains what a fair quote includes, and the albums and delivery guide answers twelve more questions about image counts, albums and backups.

Frequently asked questions

How long do wedding photographers in Chennai take to deliver photos?

Industry practice in Tamil Nadu is four to eight weeks for a full edited gallery, and in peak season (November to February) delays of four to six months are common. Pugaippadam delivers the full gallery and film within 30 days of the last function, written into the agreement, with a teaser reel usually inside 72 hours.

How long does a wedding album take to print?

Printing itself usually takes two to four weeks after you approve the final layout. Most of the wait on an album is the selection and layout approval, so choose your photographs promptly if you want the album sooner.

Is it normal to wait six months for wedding photos?

It is common, but it is not normal practice and it should not be accepted without a written reason. A studio that books within its editing capacity can deliver a full gallery in four to six weeks. Agree the delivery date in writing before you pay the advance.

When does the delivery deadline start?

It should start from the date of your last function. Be wary of clauses that start the clock only after full payment, after photo selection, or after an unspecified 'processing' period.

How many edited photos should we receive?

For a single function, 300 to 500 carefully culled images is a good deliverable. For a full multi-function wedding, 600 to 1,000. More is not better — thousands of unculled frames means you are doing the selecting yourself.

What should we do if our photographer misses the delivery date?

Ask in writing for a revised date and the reason, and keep all communication in one thread. This is exactly why the original deadline and what happens if it is missed should be agreed in the contract before booking.
