We ask before we assume

Comfort levels differ enormously between families, and getting this wrong is not a stylistic misstep, it is a genuine problem. So the pre-production conversation covers it explicitly:

• Are the functions in separate halls, and does coverage need to be separated accordingly?
• Do you want female photographers on the bride's side? We arrange this on request and we would rather you asked than assumed we could not.
• Are there guests who should not appear in photographs at all, and how will we know who?
• What may be shared publicly, and what is for the family only? We mark private galleries accordingly.
• Does the mosque or the venue have its own restrictions during the Nikah itself?

None of this constrains the photography. It simply means we plan around it rather than negotiating it in the moment while a ceremony is happening.

The functions

Mangni and Manjanaee

The engagement and the turmeric ceremony. The manjanaee is bright, informal and full of laughter — the equivalent of a haldi and photographed the same way, with two mobile photographers rather than one setting up shots.

Mehendi

Detail-heavy and often the most beautiful function to photograph. Hands, patterns, the women of the family gathered close, and light that is usually far better than the Nikah's.

The Nikah

The contract, the Ijab-e-Qubool, the signing of the register, the Khutbah. Frequently in a separate hall from the women's gathering, sometimes at a mosque with its own rules on photography and positioning. Formal and short, and it needs someone who knows to be ready for the qubool rather than reacting to it.

Walima

The reception hosted by the groom's family. Larger, more relaxed, and where the stage queue and guest coverage matters — the same crowd-management problem as any large Chennai reception. This is where a photo magnet booth or a 360 booth earns its keep in the long gap between the stage and the dinner.

Separate halls means two crews

Where the men's and women's functions are genuinely separate, one crew cannot cover both, and pretending otherwise means half your wedding is thinly photographed. We quote for two teams in that case and say so plainly rather than quietly under-crewing it.

Chennai venues

We work regularly across Triplicane, Royapettah, Mount Road, Anna Salai, Perambur and the Ambur and Vaniyambadi communities further out, plus hotel banquets in Nungambakkam and Guindy for larger Walimas. Where the Nikah is at a mosque we contact them in advance about photography positions rather than turning up and finding out.

How we crew this function

Two photographers plus a cinematographer per hall. Where functions are separated by gender, we quote for two full teams rather than splitting one, and female photographers are arranged for the bride's side on request.

We also run DJ and sound, drone, LED wall, stage decoration, cold sparklers, the 360 booth and the photo fridge magnet booth in-house. Every one of these is delivered by our own crew on our own equipment. Nothing is sub-hired, so the standard does not change from one part of the day to the next.
